Pregnancy and Pilates

Understand the new needs, limitations and risks associated with the pregnant client. We will present practical workout and programming protocols from the 1st trimester though to post-natal.  Workshop also includes liability, progress charting, and modifications of equipment in the Pilates Studio.  Course includes a take home reference workbook. 3 PMA CECs

Objectives:

  1. Lean the various conditions possibly associated with pregnancy
  2. Understand risk factors and warning signs
  3. Define and understand medical terminology
  4. Create and modify routines in the Pilates Studio on all equipment
  5. Increase revenue by targeting this market

  1. Pregnancy risk factors and warning signs vs. normal presentation of pregnancy.  Programming goals and general modifications per trimester.  Diastasis remedies

Pilates Jump Board Workshop

An advanced workout on the Studio Reformer to expand your repertoire and challenge your capable clients using the jump board.  Innovative, creative ways to use the jump board that we have not yet experienced.  Using small hand weights, bands, small balls and magic circles.  The program includes: cardio segments along with target training of the arms, glutes and core along with stretching to recover and improve flexibility. 3 PMA CECs

Objectives:

  1. To lean to use the jump board safely and effectively
  2. To add cardio to the Pilates repertoire with new chorography that can be fun and challenging
  3. To improve endurance
  4. Rebounding has many health benefits – learn how
  5. Learn to build new classes to increase revenue and target specific interests (dance, sports etc.)

Hour-by-Hour Outline:

  1. History of the jump board, effects of rebounding (jumping) and safety tips & remedial jumping – technique.
  2. Supine jumping for cardio and leg work with and without props & Supine jumping for core work with light springs with and without props
  3. Side lying jumping for Glute and leg strength with and without props & Stretches on the Reformer

• Jump Board I – The original! A full intermediate workout routine on the Pilates Studio Reformer with the Jump Board. Using basic but challenging routines we have added some light hand weights for a fun and effective 45 minute cardio workout that includes stretching.  We have two models showing Intermediate and Advanced options, and as always all of our DVD’s come with a music and voice over option OR Music only so you can just work out!

• Jump Board III: Cardio Pump - The 3rd installment of the popular Jump Board series! All new advanced variations with hand weights and some tough dance moves.  This is a very challenging cardio workout on the Reformer unlike any other of its kind. Our professional dancers, Josh and Emily Zachary-Smith, will demonstrate 2 levels of intensity side-by-side for variety.

After about five minutes of this calorie burning workout your heart rate will be elevated and you’ll be
